PLYMOUTH — Plymouth Building Commissioner Keith Hammonds updated the Plymouth Board of Public Works on the property known as the Red Rock Inn located at 2550 North Michigan St., Plymouth.

In October of last year, Hammonds sent a letter to Sunrise Hotel of Plymouth, Inc, ordering the repair and rehabilitation of the house and the portion of the hotel that runs north and south to bring it into compliance for building conditions and maintenance required for human habitation or occupancy.

According to Hammonds, Property owner Nilesh Kantibhal Patel appeared before the board in November and informed them of his intention to demolish the house and repair the required portion of the Red Rock Inn that runs north and south.

Hammonds confirmed Monday evening that the house is still standing and repairs have not been initiated on the other building. “I would like to ask the board to affirm the action to move forward with the demo of the house. I would like to send another letter to Mr. Patel deeming the other building a nuisance and ask him to tear it down.”

Member Jeff Houin made a motion to approve the request to affirm those actions with a second by member Bill Walters. The motion was approved.
