Plymouth School Board Reviews Administrative Conditions, Benefits, Wage Increases

The Plymouth School Board members reviewed changes made to administrative conditions and benefits, and administrator wage increases Tuesday night.

Superintendent Mitch Mawhorter explained that this follows previous actions when discussing teacher and other staff increases.

“We felt like some of the administrators were not compensated at the level that they should be according to their years of service and their positive evaluations,” said Mawhorter. “Therefore, we attempted to correct this by giving those administrators a raise to catch them up. All administrators received at least the same $1,500 that the teachers did. We felt that was fair.”

Mawhorter said consideration was also extended to those involved in the JESSE Cooperative, the Vocational Co-op, and the Service Center.

Mawhorter continued, “This is added labor to many of our staff who work in our office at the Administration Building. The corporation receives money through these organizations to cover the rent and labor; however, the staff who does all of the work has never been compensated for doing so. Therefore, I’ve given a larger raise to those people who have been doing this work over the past several years depending on the amount of work each person has done over the years.”

As a result, those staff members would receive a raise ranging from $.50 to $1.00 an hour based on the amount of work the staff member has done over the past several years.

The school board members approved the recommended changes with a unanimous vote.
