Plymouth Park Board opens bids for RPS Phase II

Bids were opened for the River Park Square Phase II project Monday night.

Superintendent Mike Hite opened the five bids that were submitted. There were two alternates to the project. Alternate one included a sensory garden and alternate two included fieldstone column wraps. LaPorte Construction, from LaPorte County, submitted a base bid of $761,000. Alternate one was for $47,000. Alternate two was for $50,000.

Brown and Brown, from Wakarusa, submitted a base bid of $842,700. Alternate one was for $78,600. Alternate two was for $115,800.

Robert Henry Corporation, from South Bend, submitted a base bid of $855,708. Alternate one was for $67,958. Alternate two was for $92,761.

R Yoder Contracting, from Nappanee, submitted a base bid of $850,800. Alternate one was for $76,400. Alternate two was for $93,600.

Michiana Contracting, from Plymouth, submitted a base bid of $940,900. Alternate one was for $78,100. Alternate two was for $106,600.

Hite asked permission to have these bids taken under advisement and come back next board meeting with a recommendation. The board approved a motion to have Board President Dave Morrow, Hite, and Mike Reese from Troyer Group go over the bids.

In his report, Superintendent Mike Hite reported little vandalism to the park’s Christmas lights. The only real tampering with the lighting display occurred when someone kept unplugging the lights.

Election of officers resulted in Dave Morrow elected as board president, Mike Kershner elected as board vice-president, and Cayla Wade elected as board secretary.
