The Culver Town Council members recently discussed a resolution that would provide an outline of how they will spend the money the town received in American Rescue Plan Act funds.
The town council decided to use a portion of the $329,842.68 toward investments in water and sewer infrastructure. The types of projects allowed include construction, improvements, and repairs to wastewater treatment plants, control non-point sources of pollution, improve resilience of infrastructure to severe weather events, create green infrastructure, and protect water bodies from pollution.
A portion of the funds will also be used toward providing reliable broadband service toward unserved or underserved households or businesses that are not currently receiving at least 25 Mbps download speeds and 3 Mbps of upload speeds.
The town has already received half of the funds and the other half is expected this year. All of the funds must be spent by December 31, 2026 or it must be returned to the U.S. Department of Treasury.
The council members previously held a work session to outline the needs of the town to put the funds to best use. They took action to unanimously approve the resolution as presented.
