Bourbon Town Council Reviews Trash and Recycling, Animal Ordinances

The Bourbon Town Council members looked at the 2022 trash and recycling fee ordinance last month.

Clerk-Treasurer Kim Berger commented that 2022 is the last year of a five-year contract with Republic Services for trash and recycling and the fee will increase to $15.27 per user, from $15.04.

Councilman Les McFarland suggested looking at re-bidding the service for the town in 2022 which Berger agreed would happen in the middle of 2022.

The council approved the ordinance with a unanimous vote.

The council members also looked at a proposed animal ordinance that defines allowable and controlled animals that require a permit in order to house on properties. The ordinance also sets forth general animal care requirements, the sale of animals, motor vehicle accidents involving animals, poisoning of animals, animals inside motor vehicles, trapping of animals, maximum allowable number of animals to be kept on a property, animal maintenance, and animal bites and reports.

The council decided to wait until their meeting next week to act on any readings of the ordinance as it carries quite a bit of information.
