Plymouth Park Board Considers Approval of Rough Draft of Five-Year Master Parks and Recreation Plan

The Plymouth Park Board members took time Monday night to review a rough draft of the five-year Master Parks and Recreation Plan for 2022-2026.

Input was taken from the public on what community members would like to see in the parks and the park’s trail systems.  Some suggestions included extending the Greenway Trail, expanding the disc golf course, renovating the “Kiddie Kingdom” in Centennial Park, a new pool facility, more activities for teens, more outdoor seating throughout the parks, and more pickleball courts.  In addition to these concerns, the park board and staff members have addressed replacing and expanding the storage building called the chicken coop, removing and replacing outdated/unsafe play equipment, a new office space to include the Recreation Director’s office and meeting area, making all areas of the park ADA accessible, improving the basketball courts by the pools, and planning for a new recreation center that can handle large events.

Some priorities also include the development of youth tennis and pickleball courts, fundraising, and developing new trails to connect parks and city neighborhoods, among other topics.

The Plymouth Park Board members approved the rough draft and a finalized plan will need to be submitted to the DNR by April 15.
