The Culver Town Council members received an update on an upcoming water well project last week.
The council and town officials are looking to place another well near the town’s water plant to ensure that the town has adequate coverage as a way to plan for the future. The well would be constructed on town-owned property where the Evil Czech building once stood.
Town Manager Ginny Bess Munroe explained that Utility Superintendent Bob Porter met with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) and Peerless Midwest about the project on Davis Street. They discussed certain water lines and sewer lines in the area and the next step is to determine whether or not there is enough property to meet IDEM’s setback requirements. A survey will be done to make that determination. If there is not enough to meet proper guidelines, an easement may need to be obtained to continue the pace of the project. Once that is complete, permits may be issued for the construction of the water well.
The Culver Town Council members unanimously approved a survey quote from Territorial Engineering of $1,625 for the area of Main Street and Davis Street.
Additionally, the council unanimously approved the cost of a survey to be done concerning an alley on Ohio and Davis Streets at $3,800. The alley has overgrown to where NIPSCO officials would like a clear property in order to properly access utilities that run through the alley. A survey will determine the property lines in that area.
