$500 Million Awarded to 17 Regions in READI Program

Two regions in the state that include Marshall, Starke and Pulaski Counties were awarded funds to put toward plans fashioned by region leaders to positively impact quality of place, innovation entrepreneurship, talent attraction, and workforce development.

Representatives of 17 regions around the state recently presented information to the Indiana Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative (READI) committee who then proposed funding recommendations to the Indiana Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors (IEDC) that totaled $500 million.  Those members and Governor Eric J. Holcomb made the award announcement Tuesday afternoon.

The Northwest Indiana Region, led by the Northwest Indiana Forum was awarded $50 million which includes Lake, Porter La Porte, Starke, Pulaski, Jasper and Newton Counties.  The South Bend-Elkhart RDA was also awarded $50 million which includes St. Joseph, Elkhart and Marshall Counties.

Information on those projects should be available as region leaders move forward with implementing those plans.
