Walkerton Elementary School Students Raise Money for Riley Children’s Hospital

Students from Walkerton Elementary School recently raised money to send to Riley Children’s Hospital as part of their “Lend a Helping Hand” theme this year.

Principal Patrick Fuller told the John Glenn School Board members last week that the effort was done during Red Ribbon Week in October where the students brought in $1.00 if they participated in dress-up days.  Their goal was to make about $2,500.

“If we raised that amount of money, that means that Walkerton Elementary will officially become a Red Wagon School and we would have a red wagon at Riley Children’s Hospital,” explained Fuller.  “We are able to collect $3,500.”

Fuller thanked all involved with the project.

The next “Lend a Helping Hand” activity is Stuff the Bus where all non-perishable food items will be collected fe Walkerton Food Pantry.  Classes will be competing against each other and the winning class will take it over to the pantry in the bus. That activity is currently underway.
