Plymouth City Council Approves Resolutions Pertaining to Fire, Police Equipment

The Plymouth City Council members reviewed two resolutions that week concerning equipment purchases for the fire department and police department.

One detailed the transfer of funds to purchase radios for the fire department.  Fire Chief Steve Holm previously explained that Center and West Township Trustees have agreed to purchase radios through the Plymouth Fire Department in order to take advantage of certain state pricing.  He said the $45,000 cost would cover the hand-held radios, chargers, lapel mics, and other accessories that are typically included.

The city will pay for the radios and the township trustees will reimburse the city at a later time.

The Plymouth City Council members approved the resolution with a unanimous vote.

They also discussed a resolution that would authorize the transfer of $10,000 from the General Fund to the Deferral and Diversion Fund for the purchase of body armor for the police department.  Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver explained that the police department received a Department of Justice grant for the purchase of the body armor which will cover half of the cost.  It is a reimbursable grant so the transfer of funds would ensure all funds are there for the initial purchase and then be reimbursed later.

The council members approved the resolution with a unanimous vote.
