Nearly 4,000 New COVID-19 Cases Reported Statewide

The daily number of COVID-19 cases in the state is increasing.

Thursday’s update from the Indiana Department of Health showed 3,939 people were newly diagnosed with COVID-19 with 31 people in Marshall County, seven people in Pulaski County and three people in Starke County. 

Another 29 people in the state have died of COVID-19. 

There has been an increase of people hospitalized with COVID-19 symptoms around the state.  The state’s coronavirus dashboard showed 1,515 people hospitalized Wednesday, November 17 which is an increase of 219 people from Wednesday, November 10. 

Over 3.3 million people in the state are fully vaccinated.  The number of breakthrough cases now totals 62,396, with 1,304 breakthrough hospitalizations and 659 breakthrough deaths. 

The state’s vaccination rate is 52.4 percent.  Pulaski County shows vaccination rate of 44.6 percent, Marshall County shows a vaccination rate of 44.4 percent, and Starke County shows a vaccination rate of 39 percent. 

Only 873 Hoosier children ages 5-11 have gotten the pediatric COVID-19 vaccine, according to information on the state’s vaccination dashboard.  Almost 21,000 booster doses have been administered.
