IMPA officials have obtained a building permit for the 35-acre solar park to be located on 1st Road in Bremen.
Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy gave an update to the Bremen Town Council members last week.
“The last time I talked to IMPA it’s a Fall start with a Spring start-up for the Solar Park,” stated Weldy. “We’re just waiting for that to happen. NIPSCO moved an electric line and pole that were in the way, so that project should be happening.”
IMPA Solar Project Developer Darrin Jacobs previously explained that the project will be interconnected with Bremen’s electric system to assist with 6.75 MW of electricity to only service the Town of Bremen. Jacobs added that it will not service the entire town, but will provide a small percentage available to the town.
In all, IMPA has 35 solar parks in several communities within their jurisdictions that total about 130 MW.
The town previously annexed the land in the town’s jurisdiction for this project.
