Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety Considers Parking Sign Request

The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members considered a request from Max and Rebecca Hatfield for a no parking sign at their property on Alexander Street.

The board members heard the initial request at their last meeting but tabled it to the September 27 meeting in order to get more information about the situation.

Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt said they have been complaining about people blocking the entrance of their driveway going into the garage and alleyway.

Marquardt said he has driven by the area several times since the request and has not witnessed any issues.

“I guess I just don’t really think we need to invest in a sign there,” said Marquardt.

Police Chief David Bacon said officers have responded to complaints there a few times this year.  He stated that the cars parked there were not in violation of any parking ordinances.  There was one instance where a car had to be moved as the owner attended a party in the neighborhood.

In the end, the board members voted to deny the request.
