The residents in Culver may see a different type of art project in town.
Debbie Palmer presented a request to the Culver Town Council members Tuesday night about painting a mural on a storm drain in town. She said she plans on getting a grant for the project that will be done in 2022, if it is awarded funds.
Palmer noted that the painting would last anywhere from six months to a year and it would be power washed off when it starts to show wear. She has been in touch with Heartland Artists to get ideas about the project.
She asked the council where they would prefer a location for the project. She suggested by the Culver Town Park or in the downtown area. Since a decision does not need to be made immediately, she will coordinate a location with Utility Superintendent Bob Porter.
Town Manager Ginny Bess Munroe commented that the project would fit into the concept of including more arts and culture in Culver, as determined during a recent Economic Summit.
The council agreed to allow Palmer to move forward in applying for a grant for the project. If awarded, she will return to the council with mural suggestions. Residents will have input on the final mural selection.
