Kankakee Valley Broadcasting’s Last Original Owner Dies at 95

The last of the original owners of Kankakee Valley Broadcasting has passed away. LeRoy Gudeman died at his Knox home Wednesday at the age of 95. He was part of the group that launched WKVI-FM in 1969 and continued to serve on Kankakee Valley Broadcasting’s board of directors until 2018. Along the way, he also saw the start of WKVI AM in 1970 and WYMR in 2015.

Gudeman was a longtime attorney, maintaining a law practice in Downtown Knox from 1957 until his retirement in 2014.

Funeral services are Tuesday, October 12 at 11:00 a.m. CDT at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel in Knox, with visitation there Monday, October 11 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to an organization of the donor’s choice.
