John Glenn School Board Opens Public Hearing Concerning Tentative Teacher Master Contract

The John Glenn School Board members opened a public hearing concerning the tentative agreement regarding the Teacher Master Contract.

The tentative agreement for the first year of the two-year contract calls for differentiated raises for teachers between $2,000 and $8,000 based on years of service and degrees. The minimum starting salary will be $41,000 and maximum salary will be $76,175 for the first year. In the second year, teachers will receive differentiated raises of $700 or $775 with the minimum salary being $41,000 and maximum salary of $76,950. Two ECA positions have been added for middle school soccer and elementary year book, and the TLP portion of the contract agreement will be removed.

Board President William Groves said this satisfies the state’s requirement to offer starting teacher salaries at a minimum of $40,000 and that was achieved in this tentative agreement.

Board member Christian Mattix said as a common resident he was happy to see an amicable discussion between all entities involved in negotiations.

There were no other public comments.

The board members will consider the approval of the official Teacher Master Contract during their next meeting in November.
