Nearly 50 New COVID-19 Cases Reported in Tri-County Area

Several more residents in the tri-county area have tested positive with COVID-19, according to Thursday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health.  There were 29 new cases in Marshall County, 12 new cases in Starke County and eight new cases in Pulaski County. 

An additional 31 people in the state have died of COVID-19 between September 21 and September 29, including two people from Starke County and one person from Marshall County. 

The Indiana Department of Health Strike Team will be in Pulaski County Friday, October 1 and Saturday, October 2 from Noon to 8 p.m. ET at the Winamac Knights of Columbus to offer free COVID-19 testing and vaccinations to residents.

Rapid antigen and PCR testing are available with no appointments necessary.  The Pfizer and Johnson and Johnson vaccines will be available.   The Pfizer vaccine can be administered to children between the ages of 12 and 17.

The state’s vaccination rate is at 55.7 percent, while it is 47.5 percent in Marshall County, 46.5 percent in Pulaski County and 40.9 percent in Starke County. 

The Indiana Department of Health vaccination site shows that there have been 39,176 total breakthrough cases, 845 hospitalizations and 334 breakthrough deaths.
