Argos Downtown Square Groundbreaking Planned for Tonight

The Argos Town Council members will host a groundbreaking ceremony at the site for the new Downtown Square.

Residents are invited to attend the event at the corner of Michigan and Walnut Streets at 6:30 p.m. ET.

The project includes a train depot building, an elevated performance stage, a plaza, farmers market space, flex use lawn space, lounge chairs, 17 additional parking spaces, and 10 foot sidewalks.

Indiana Earth, Inc. was chosen by the town council members to work on the project at a base bid cost of $998,418.  It was approved on the condition that Town Attorney Derek Jones reviews the contract.

The Downtown Square project is part of the Marshall County Regional Stellar Communities Designation Initiative where a majority of the project will be paid for with grant funds from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs with a 20 percent match from the Town of Argos.
