Over 2,200 New COVID-19 Cases Reported in Indiana

More people are testing positive with COVID-19 in Indiana.  In Tuesday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health, 2,234 people have been newly diagnosed with COVID-19 with four of those residents in Marshall County, four people in Starke County and four residents in Pulaski County.

Another 27 people in the state have died of COVID-19 from August 2 to August 9.  None of those deaths were reported locally. 

The number of hospitalized patients in the state with COVID-19 symptoms was up to 1,318 on Monday, which is an increase of 157 patients from Sunday’s report and 333 patients more than one week ago. 

The 7-day all tests positivity rate is up to 9.2 percent while the 7-day positivity rate for unique individuals is 17.5 percent. 

The COVID-19 vaccine is free for individuals 12 and older.  To find the nearest vaccination site, visit www.ourshot.in.gov or call 211.  A total of 5,983,170 doses of the vaccine have been administered to Hoosiers, while 2,986,545 individuals are fully vaccinated, including 43 percent of Marshall County residents, 42.2 percent of Starke County residents, and 37.6 percent of Pulaski County residents.
