Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters told the commissioners Monday morning that he is happy with chip and seal work done by crews so far in this year’s Road Program.
He said some roads may have some excess stone.
Peters commented, “That’s due to the humidity that we were having at that time when we did seal some of those roads. We will go back and sweep them if need be. The problem that we run into is as hot as it is and as humid as it is if you try and maintain that minimum stone right roads will start to bleed. You can fix the roads that bleed, but then again it leads to bigger chaos.”
In addition, all Community Crossings paperwork has been approved by INDOT. Peters said Milestone Contractors North (formerly Walsh and Kelly) will begin work on the projects at the end of August or beginning of September.
The Community Crossings projects include the resurfacing of Sycamore from U.S. 6 to 4B, 2C (3A Road) from East Shore to Plymouth-Goshen Trail, West Shore from the Culver Town Limits to South Shore, South Shore from West Shore to Venetian Village Road, South Shore from Venetian Village Road to 20B, Muckshaw Road from 13th to 14th, and Michigan Road from U.S. 31 to Argos Town Limits.
The contracted crews will also work on additional paving projects as agreed upon which include 14th from Muckshaw to U.S. 31, 3rd (North Shore) from West Shore to 3A, Pretty Lake Trail from Quince to State Road 17, Quince from State Road 17 to Pretty Lake Drive to Queen, Sage from West Shore to State Road 110 and East Shore from 3A to West Shore.
