The Marshall County Commissioners will meet in special session today to discuss the Marshall County Courthouse Clock Tower project.
The commissioners approved various repairs to the clock tower and general structure updates prior to the courthouse’s 150 year celebration in 2022. They approved work to be done by Midwest Maintenance, Inc. in the amount of roughly $1.5 million.
The commissioners have been awaiting information on additional costs to repair the clock tower. When the contractors were able to prepare the tower for painting, they discovered rotted wood. A lot of the clock tower will have to be replaced. Workers also found damage to a baring beam plate along with an I-beam over the header of the doors to the entry of the basement.
The Marshall County Commissioners will meet today at 9 a.m. ET in the second floor meeting room in the Marshall County Building at 112 W. Jefferson Street in Plymouth.
