Culver Town Council to Hold Public Hearing on Upcoming Park Project

The Culver Town Council is expected to hold a public hearing soon about an upcoming playground and social gathering space project at the Culver Town Park as part of the Regional Development Plan in the Marshall County Crossroads Regional Stellar Communities Initiative.

Culver Park Superintendent Amber Cowell explained that the west end of the park will undergo renovations from in front of the west pavilion to behind the Train Depot.  She said the plan includes sidewalks in front of the west pavilion to help make the Farmers Market and pavilion ADA accessible, a new playground that will replace the current structure, a plaza area, and additional seating.

Preliminary estimates put the cost of the project around $600,000.  The town will provide a 20 percent match toward the cost of the project. The final cost will be determined after bids are opened.

An income survey will need to be conducted for the project. That will create two public hearing opportunities concerning the project during the Culver Town Council meetings on September 14 and 28.
