The Argos Town Council members reviewed an amended zoning ordinance during their meeting Wednesday night.
The ordinance replaces and amends substantially all of the current zoning provisions which are codified as the Town of Argos Land Use and Development Code. It does not affect the current zoning maps, or amend any portions of the Town of Argos Building Code or Subdivision Code.
A public hearing on the ordinance was held with no public comment. The ordinance was passed to the town council with a favorable recommendation by the Argos Plan Commission.
The ordinance states that the council has “paid reasonable regard to the comprehensive plan, the current conditions and the character of current structures and uses in each district, the most desirable use for which the land in each district is adapted, the conservation of property values throughout the jurisdiction and responsible growth and development.”
The council members suspended the rules and adopted the ordinance on all three readings. The ordinance can be viewed at the Argos Town Hall and at the Argos Public Library.
