The Argos Town Council members approved the lowest and most responsible bid received for the upcoming Downtown Square project.
Indiana Earth, Inc. was chosen to work on the project at the corner of Michigan and Walnut Streets at a base bid cost of $998,418 at the recommendation of The Troyer Group. It was approved on the condition that Town Attorney Derek Jones reviews the contract.
A pre-construction meeting is scheduled for this week and the project may begin in mid-late September.
The project includes a train depot building, an elevated performance stage, a plaza, farmers market space, flex use lawn space, lounge chairs, 17 additional parking spaces, and 10 foot sidewalks.
The town hopes to close on the property this week.
