The Plymouth City Council members reviewed an agreement Monday night that would provide additional funds to operate the Dr. Susan Bardwell Aquatic Center.
City Attorney Sean Surrisi reminded the council members that they previously approved a payment of $75,000 for which half of that total went toward operational expenses at the facility for April, May and June and that money is just about exhausted. He asked the council for half of the remaining funds to get through July which will get the facility through until the project bonds are refinanced.
Earlier this month, the council agreed to consolidate bonds with a reduced interest rate. The city’s TIF #3 Fund will be responsible for the payment of the bond which means lease revenues will be freed up to be separately contracted for operating expenses at the Aquatic Center.
Surrisi commented that the agreement before them will provide funding through July.
Surrisi stated, “This would just kind of carry that interim period to assure that the facility gets on to the next long-term solution with these additional funding steams that we’ve worked to provide through refinancing and additional contributions from the school.”
The agreement for $18,750 was approved with a unanimous vote.
