Bremen Working on State Revolving Fund Application for New Wastewater Plant

The Town of Bremen is looking into financing options for a new wastewater plant. The town council last week agreed to let the town engineer work on a proposal for a State Revolving Fund loan, according to Director of Operations Trend Weldy.

“He got approval from the board to go ahead and put some cost estimates together and get an application to them for next year for a new wastewater plant,” Weldy says.

Bremen’s current facility was built in 1964. The cost to replace it is estimated to be $11.5 million.

Meanwhile, Weldy says Bremen is looking to annex some property for industrial development. “We had a business owner who bought 45 acres that borders up to the Town of Bremen to the east,” Weldy explains, “and we’re working on annexing that.”

Weldy expects a public hearing to be held in the next few weeks.
