The Argos Town Council members considered a resolution last week that would complete the process of initiating a new TIF area.
The new TIF District involves the construction of 32 single-family housing units in the Deerfield Meadows subdivision on 21 acres on South Kenilworth that could begin in the latter part of this year or in 2022. The subdivision will be in a housing TIF District, which would make it the fourth TIF District in the Town of Argos.
The resolution considered last week establishes the Deerfield Meadows Housing Allocation Area and the amendment of the Dewey Street Economic Development Area, which is the final step in creating the fourth TIF District in Argos.
The Argos Planning Commission and Argos Community School Corporation board members approved similar resolutions toward the establishment of this TIF District, per state statute. The Argos Town Council members approved the most recent resolution with a unanimous vote.
