The Town of Argos is reminding residents that there is a certain timeframe when it is legal to discharge fireworks within the town.
The discharge of fireworks falls under the noise category in the Code of Ordinances regarding nuisances. The ordinance states that fireworks may be discharged beginning June 29 to July 3 from 5 p.m. until two hours past sunset, July 4 from 10 a.m. until midnight, July 5 to July 9 from 5 p.m. until two hours after sunset, and New Year’s Eve from 10 a.m. until 1 a.m. New Year’s Day.

An adult violation of the noise ordinance concerning fireworks is $100 for the first offense, $150 for the second offense, $200 for the third offense or more, and possible court litigation.
A minor child violation of the noise ordinance concerning fireworks is $75 for the first offense along with a warning letter sent to parents with a copy of the town’s fireworks policy, and $100 for the second offense.
