Testimony Continues in Plymouth Murder Trial

Testimony continued Wednesday in Marshall County Superior Court No. 1 in the case involving the defendant Duane Longacre who is accused of murder, arson and resisting law enforcement in the death of Jill McCarty at her Plum Street home in Plymouth on June 28. 2020. 

The State of Indiana is represented by Marshall County Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Tami Napier and Marshall County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Nick Langowski. Longacre is represented by Attorneys Tom Black and Alex Hoover.

A video interview was shown where Plymouth Police Department Detective Ben McIntyre questioned Duane Longacre in the case.  Other witnesses included the jail nurse with Quality Correctional Care, jail officers Mark Hancock and Seth Crawford, Chief Jailer Andrew “Beau” Holcomb, an inmate at the jail who submitted testimony on a conversation he had with the defendant about the alleged crime, and a Marshall County Sheriff’s Department Drug Task Force officer. 

Longacre’s defense includes an insanity defense which produced different examinations from different doctors.  Two were court-appointed while the other was hired by the State of Indiana.  Those reports were submitted as evidence and testimony concerning those reports was given by Psychologist Dr. Frank Krause, Psychiatrist Dr. Rebecca Mueller, and Forensic Psychologist Dr. Christina Pietz. 

The trial will resume Thursday  The jury is expected to start deliberations Thursday afternoon or Friday.
