Plymouth School Board Reviews Resolution Determining Significant Negative Lunch Account Balances to Bad Debt

The Plymouth School Board members reviewed a resolution Tuesday night that would move negative lunch account balances to bad debt.

Corporation Treasurer Kandi Tinkey explained that even though school lunches were free this school year thanks to action by the USDA during the COVID-19 pandemic, many of the bad debt is carried over from last year.  Tinkey said she thought corporation officials may be able to collect that debt, but they were not.

The total amount of debt is $456.95.  The money will be applied to the necessary accounts from the Operations Fund to the School Lunch Program.

School Board member Larry Pinkerton commented that he remembered last year’s amount being much higher.  Tinkey said it was around $3,000 last year.

The Plymouth School Board approved the resolution with a unanimous vote.
