The Marshall County Commissioners opened a public hearing Monday morning to take comments on a proposed change in the unsafe building ordinance.
The change pertained to the inclusion of all towns in the county to provide information to the unsafe building ordinances for hearings on specific issues. The amendment eliminates the towns and allows municipal leaders to resume governance over those issues. The Unsafe Building Board members will continue to consider issues that involve a municipality’s two-mile jurisdiction and the unincorporated areas of Marshall County.
The makeup of the Unsafe Building Board would not change.
There were no public comments during the public hearing.
The commissioners suspended the rules and approved the ordinance amendment with a unanimous vote. It will be advertised as it includes the addition of legal fees and publications for hearings.
