The building that formerly housed the Evil Czech restaurant in Culver will be demolished August 2.
Culver Town Manager Ginny Bess Munroe explained to the Culver Town Council last week that Utility Superintendent Bob Porter has set up inspections on the building to determine any issues. If all is good, the building at 530 S. Ohio Street will be demolished August 2.
The Culver Town Council members approved the purchase of that property in 2019 with the hopes of turning the building into something useful for the town, but Councilman Rich West commented during a previous meeting that a preliminary architectural study done on the building found renovation costs to be much more than the town was willing to spend.
The council members previously voted to demolish the building at a cost not to exceed $10,000. The project is expected to be done in-house by the Utility Department. The contents inside will be inspected and recycled, or deemed as surplus in order to be given to departments to use.
