Plymouth Street through downtown Bremen will soon have a new feature.
Sheila Reed brought the concept of installing banners downtown before the Bremen Town Council members in late May to help welcome visitors to downtown Bremen and to provide more pride to Bremen residents. Reed worked with Graphics Unlimited to come up with a design to put on banners that will hang from the new light poles in downtown Bremen.
The banners feature the green and white school colors of Bremen Public Schools and its emblem, plus mint leaves, the famed stove pipe logo, and the words “Bremen Welcomes You” along with the town’s motto “A Good Town”.
The Bremen Town Council members reviewed the banners and liked them. They commented that possibly other banners could be purchased for different seasons of the year, but they will see how these initial banners hold up throughout the seasons.
The banners will be double-sided on weather resistant material and there will be 20 large banners and 13 smaller banners to be placed on the downtown poles.
The council members approved the purchase of the banners of about $1,800.
