Bourbon Town Council Reviews Change to Junk/Abandoned Vehicle Ordinance

The Bourbon Town Council members reviewed a change to the junk/abandoned vehicle ordinance when they met Tuesday night.

The ordinance originally stated that an unplated vehicle could be considered a junk vehicle.  However, it was determined that that criteria should not be the only reason why it is determined a junk or abandoned vehicle.

The ordinance amendment changes the provision to state that a tag will be placed on an unplated vehicle and if the issue is not remedied within 72 hours the town may tow the vehicle.

It was noted that the change reflected state statute.

The Bourbon Town Council members approved the ordinance amendment on the first reading and then suspended the rules and approved the ordinance on second and third readings.  The ordinance amendment may now be enforced.
