Argos School Board to Sell Surplus Computers

Surplus Macbooks and Chromebooks will soon be available for sale by the Argos Community School Corporation.

Superintendent Ned Speicher told the school board last week that with new devices available to use for students and teachers this upcoming school year, they have a chance to sell the old devices first to students and teachers and then to the general public.

The computers are at least four years old and have been wiped clean by the technology department.  All student devices have been repaired at least once and they will be sold “as is”.

The Chromebook price would be $75 and the Macbooks would be around $370 to $425 depending on the grade of the computer.  The teacher’s Macbooks will be sold for $380 with the teachers having the first option to buy.

Whatever computers are not sold to the public will be sold to a resale company.

Once available, the sale will go through mid-July.

The school board approved the sale of the surplus computers with a unanimous vote.
