Argos School Board Reviews Request for Classified Pay Increase

The Argos Community School Board members reviewed a request to increase pay for the classified staff when they met Monday night.

Superintendent Ned Speicher noted that the board members already approved a three percent increase for administrators and directors effective July 1, 2021.

Speicher commented, “This is a three percent increase for our classified staff which we feel we can handle in our current budgets without any problems.”

The increase will be given based on effective evaluations and a return to the corporation for the 2021-2022 school year that begins July 1, 2021.

He said an increase for substitute teachers was also included in the same packet for consideration.

“We upped that a little more than three percent to be competitive with other school districts,” said Speicher.

The Argos Community School Board members approved the increase with a unanimous vote.

Speicher stressed that an increase for teachers is expected to be negotiated when contract negotiations begin in August.
