New designs are complete pertaining to the second phase of the Lake Max hiking and biking trail in the Town of Culver.
The second phase of the Lake Max Trail includes a one-mile extension of the trail from the Culver Park to Washington Street, Plymouth Street and South Main Street.
Culver Town Manager Ginny Bess Munroe explained to the Culver Town Council members Tuesday night that the amendments are included in the new design that were determined following a discussion with residents along Plymouth Street. The design also addresses drainage issues in the area. Residents are welcome to go to Culver Town Hall to review the designs.
Residents living on Plymouth Street have spoken out against the project during several meetings. Residents have gone as far as signing a letter asking the council to completely stop the project, claiming they were not notified of the project until the latter part of the planning and the project in not in their best interest. It was explained that several public hearings were held concerning the second phase of the Lake Max Trail and notices for those public hearings were published.
Munroe stated that the project will move into the construction bid phase in the near future with the design delivered to INDOT.
