Five New Cases of COVID-19 Reported Locally

Five more people in the tri-county area have tested positive with COVID-19, according to Monday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health.

Three people in Marshall County and two people in Pulaski County were diagnosed with COVID-19. They are among 381 new cases of COVID-19 in the state.  There were no additional cases in Starke County. 

One more person in the state died of COVID-19 which lifts the total number of deaths to 13,137. 

The number of COVID-19 hospitalizations keeps decreasing with 751 reported Monday.

Additionally, there are over 2,800 cases of COVID-19 variants in the state with a majority of them positive with the B.1.1.7 variant originally identified in the U.K.

About 37 percent of Pulaski County residents are fully vaccinated, along with 35 percent of Marshall County residents and about 28 percent of Starke County residents. 

In the state’s weekly school coronavirus dashboard update, there were 482 new student COVID-19 cases in the state, 29 new teacher cases and 47 staff cases.  The cases were mostly reported in the month of May. 

Locally, Plymouth High School, Menominee Elementary School, Triton Elementary School, Bremen High School, LaVille Junior/Senior High School, and John Glenn High School reported less than five new student COVID-19 cases.
