Argos School Board Reviews Housing Program Resolution

The Argos School Board members reviewed a resolution Monday night involving the Town of Argos Housing TIF District.

The new TIF District involves the construction of 32 single-family housing units in the Deerfield Meadows subdivision on 21 acres on South Kenilworth that could begin in the latter part of this year or in 2022.  The subdivision will be in a housing TIF District, which would make it the fourth TIF District in the Town of Argos.

Argos Economic Development Director Mark VanDerWeele explained that the school board has to approve the housing program established by the Argos Redevelopment Commission per state statute.  He told the Argos Town Council members Wednesday night that the same resolution needs to go to the Argos Planning Commission as part of the process before it goes to the town council for approval in July.  The plat and utility maps are in the design phase.

Argos Community School Superintendent Ned Speicher said the school board approved the resolution Monday night.
