Three Arrested in Separate Incidents for Impaired Driving in Marshall County

Three people were arrested by Marshall County Sheriff’s Department deputies over the weekend in three separate incidents of impaired driving.

Chase Evans

An investigation during a Friday night traffic stop in the area of Nutmeg Road and Poplar Street in Plymouth led to the arrest of 24-year-old Chase M. Evans. The officer reportedly found him to be under the influence of alcohol.  Evans, a Plymouth resident, faces preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering.  He was later released on a $1,500 cash bond. 

Anthony Moyer

In the overnight hours Saturday, 31-year-old Anthony D. Moyer of Elkhart was reportedly attempting to leave the scene of a property damage accident on U.S. 31 near the 234 mile marker.  Officers found him to be impaired, according to the report. Police say Moyer was transported to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth for a certified test and then taken to the Marshall County Jail.  Moyer faces preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated controlled substance and operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering.  He was later released after posting a $1,500 cash bond.   

Marion Bates

A Gary man was allegedly found to be driving under the influence Sunday afternoon after Marshall County Sheriff’s Department dispatchers received calls about a possible impaired driver.  Deputies located the driver, 64-year-old Marion Rickie Bates, in the area of U.S. 30 and King Road, and later took him to the Marshall County Jail after an investigation.  Bates faces a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a BAC of.15 or more.  He is being held on a $1,500 cash bond. 

Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
