Seventeen New COVID-19 Cases Reported in Tri-County Area

Another 1,198 people in the state have been diagnosed with COVID-19 including 12 more people in Marshall County, three more people in Starke County and two more people in Pulaski County.  A total of 698,692 people in the state have tested positive with COVID-19 since March of 2020.

Sunday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health also shows a total of 12,743 COVID-19 deaths, which is an increase of 10 from Saturday’s count.  The total increases by 405 if probable deaths are included. 

The number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients has decreased slightly.  Sunday’s report showed 825 patients which was 45 less from Saturday’s report. 

Residents age 16 and older are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. To schedule an appointment, visit https://ourshot.in.gov or call 211.

Appointments are still available at the mass vaccination site at the former Roosevelt High School at 730 W. 25th Ave. in Gary. Anyone age 16 and older is encouraged to get a free COVID-19 shot Monday, April 11 and Tuesday, April 12, during the Indiana Department of Health’s walk-in days at the site, which will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. CT.  

Two additional FEMA mobile units will operate April 13-17 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT at La Porte Rural King and East Chicago School Administration. 

Nearly 3.4 million doses of the vaccine have been administered in Indiana.
