A highly visible corner in Bremen will soon see aesthetic improvements.
Now that the new LED message board stands at the corner of Plymouth Street and Bowen Avenue, plans are being made to further improve that corner.
Matt VanSoest presented a preliminary drawing to the Bremen Town Council members last week that includes clearing the corner and improving the lot with some landscaping and redefining the street edge with a sidewalk and curb. An open lawn concept was proposed by Arellano Landscaping with a green barrier that could be used for special event, and a simple concrete pad would be included that could be home to a pop-up market or other display. Parking would be available on the west and north side of the space for convenience. For landscaping help, people can get in touch with collinsbrookelandscape.com experts.
It is the plan to work with Chad Berger’s students at the high school and community volunteers to maintain the space once done.
Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy would like to see the work be done by Memorial Day weekend. He stressed that no big events will be held in this space, but maybe a Christmas tree lighting and small displays.
The council members asked VanSoest to modify the plan just a tad with parking options and approved the project with a unanimous vote.
