Overall COVID-19 Case Count in State Surpasses 700,000

There were 970 additional COVID-19 cases in the state reported Tuesday which pushed the overall total number of cases in the state to 700,775. 

Six more people in Marshall County tested positive with COVID-19, along with four more people in Starke County and one more person in Pulaski County. 

There were 16 additional deaths reported Tuesday which increases the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 12,762. 

Residents age 16 and older are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. To schedule an appointment, visit https://ourshot.in.gov or call 211.  The administration of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine is on hold pending further review by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 6.8 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine have been administered in the U.S. as of April 12.  CDC and FDA officials are reviewing data involving six reported U.S. cases of a rare and severe type of blood clot in women between the ages of 18 and 48 after receiving the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Symptoms reportedly occurred 6 to 13 days after vaccination.

Operations at mass vaccination sites continue, but the Moderna vaccine will be substituted until the review of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is complete. 

As of Tuesday, a total of 3,451,895 doses of the Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccine have been administered in Indiana.
