Marshall, Starke, Pulaski Counties in Yellow Status on State’s County Metrics Map

The Indiana Department of Health updated the county metrics map Wednesday which shows Marshall, Starke and Pulaski Counties in the yellow status on the map that indicates a moderate community spread of COVID-19.  La Porte County is the only county in the state that is in the orange status this week. The orange status indicates a high community spread of COVID-19.

There were 1,233 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the state Wednesday with 14 people testing positive in Marshall County, eight people in Starke County and one person in Pulaski County. 

Another 20 people have died of the coronavirus in the state which raises the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 12,782.

The Johnson & Johnson vaccine remains unavailable for the time being as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration review reports of rare reactions involving blood clots in women between the ages of 18 and 48. 

As of Wednesday, over 9,200 people have been fully vaccinated in Marshall County, along with nearly 3,700 people in Starke County and over 2,700 people in Pulaski County.  Over 3.5 million doses of the vaccine have been administered in Indiana. 

In the state’s updated long-term care facility update, there were 14 new resident cases in the state reported from May 1, 2020 to April 6, 2021 and 30 new deaths reported from April 11, 2020 to April 10, 2021.
