The Marshall County Council members reviewed an additional appropriation request from Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters Monday morning that would put funding toward the 2021 Road Program.
Peters previously asked for $800,000 to be appropriated to this year’s road program with $500,000 coming from the Motor Vehicle Highway Fund and $300,000 from the Local Roads and Streets Fund. The commissioners have yet to approve a finalized road program plan for 2021, but Peters previously indicated that the county’s gravel roads will receive some attention.
The council members approved the additional appropriation with a unanimous vote. Work is being done to prepare the roads before the paving season begins.
Peters anticipates that the commissioners will discuss the road program during their upcoming meeting on Monday, April 19.
