The Culver Town Council members approved the second reading of an ordinance Tuesday night that adjusts rates at the Culver Beach Lodge.
Park Superintendent Amber Cowell previously explained that updates at the Beach Lodge, which included ADA accessibility improvements, warranted an increase in rates.
The rental of the second floor of the beach lodge in the off-season, which is fall to spring, would jump from $107 to $171.20. The in-season price would go from $155.15 to $214.
Since the Office of Community and Rural Affairs provided grant funding to update the Beach Lodge through Culver’s Stellar Communities Designation, Gerry White from OCRA suggested offering a reduced rental rate of the second floor of the Beach Lodge for those who are low-to-moderate income status. The off-season rate would be $128.40 and the in-season rate would be $160.50. Cowell said she has not gotten an update on some questions surrounding the low-to-moderate income rates.
Since several questions remain unanswered, Council President Ginny Bess Munroe asked the council members to consider the ordinance on second reading during Tuesday’s meeting and consider the third reading at the next meeting. That recommendation was made into a motion and unanimously approved.
