Argos School Board Approves Technology Lease for New Student Computers

The Argos Community School Board members approved a technology lease for new computers for all K-12 students.

Superintendent Ned Speicher said the four-year lease for the new iPads was $232,000.  He commented that iPads work better for virtual learning for all at the corporation.  The school board previously approved the purchase of about 600 iPads. The rental fee per year will be about $100 for parents/guardians and the school corporation will pick up the remainder of the yearly cost for four years out of the Operations Fund budget.

The lease will be paid out of textbook rental fees.

He added that the Chromebooks the students are currently using will be retired after the end of summer school and will be offered to students or the community for about $30 or $40 in an auction.  A specific date for that event has not been released.
