Triton, Plymouth School Leaders Oppose House Bill 1005

Leaders at two more local school corporations are voicing opposition to House Bill 1005.

House Bill 1005 would establish Education Savings Accounts and expands Indiana’s voucher programs.  School leaders say it diverts funding from public schools.  It is currently in the Indiana Senate after passing the House of Representatives.

Triton Community School Superintendent Jeremy Riffle said the Triton School Board members approved a resolution Monday night opposing House Bill 1005 and it has been sent to the legislature.

Plymouth School Superintendent Andy Hartley said last week that Plymouth Education Association representatives spoke to the school board members there about opposition to the bill and to Senate Bill 413.   He said there is a plan to formulate a letter to send to legislature to express opposition from both the school board and the Plymouth Education Association.
