Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters presented the 2021 Road Program to the Marshall County Commissioners last week for review and future approval. A copy of that program will be available to the press once it is approved.
The Marshall County Commissioners and the Marshall County Council members previously supported an additional appropriation of $500,000 from the Motor Vehicle Highway fund and $300,000 from the Local Roads and Streets fund toward the road program. The formal additional appropriation approval is expected to be finalized by the council members during their April meeting.
The initial plan leaves the program short about $260,000, according to Peters, who adjusted a few things in the plan for the commissioners’ review.
Additionally, in anticipation of the summer road program, Peters told the commissioners that crews will be switching to four 10-hour work days beginning May 5. He commented that the schedule works much better for the department and it follows the schedule of many area highway departments.
