Final Argos Fire Protection Territory Public Hearing Set for Tonight

The last in a series of three public hearings is scheduled for tonight in Argos in order for Argos, Walnut Township and Green Township residents to gather information about the potential formation of an Argos Fire Protection Territory.

The money raised through an increase in property taxes in this proposal will help pay full-time EMTs and pay for necessary equipment for the EMS and the Argos Fire Department.  The fire service would remain a volunteer service.

Baker Tilly representative Susan Cowen will be on hand to provide financial information, and an attorney who has extensive experience on fire territories will answer any questions.  Other information will be provided by local officials.

Tonight’s public hearing will be an opportunity for residents to voice an opinion on the matter.  A quorum of Walnut Township and Green Township Advisory Board members, as well as a quorum of Argos Town Council members will be making a decision after the public hearing on whether or not to move forward with creating an Argos Fire Protection Territory.

Tonight’s meeting is at 6:30 p.m. ET at the Argos Fire Department building.  It will also be available virtually on Zoom.  The link can be found here.
